NAConn participated in Hello! West Hartford,A program initiated by West Hartford to celebrate the town’s rich cultural diversity and languages spoken by its residents. It is realized that language is a vehicle for community connection and the cultural diversity is the fabric of West Hartford.

The event featured a montage of videos and multicultural entertainment, which included dancing, singing, instrumental music, speakers, and cultural foods. NAConn seized this opportunity to have the strength of our voice felt.
Much gratitude goes to the Bombay Olive Restaurant for representing and sponsoring the Nepali Language and Nepali cultural foods. Our Nepali community performed a dance composed of different national songs – Sayathari baja eutai taal, saiyou thunga fulka hami eutai mala Nepali, Paschim kohi purba ghar. Performers Gilder Lama, Filder Lama, Silder Lama, Zenith Rai, Jeny Yonjan, Mamata Malla looked amazing in their ethnic outfits. Gilder Lama, Filder Lama and Silder Lama also performed a selo dance. Members of Suseli Band,Boston- Tilak Shrestha ( Harmonium ), Ranjan Budhathoki ( flute ), Avaya Dhungel ( sarangi ), Dhan Kumar Gurung ( madal ), Utsab Gurung (madal ), Sagar Khatiwada (dholak), Nilam Khatiwada ( tambarine) and Min KC (folk singer) performed an instrumental piece composed of tunes to various Nepali folk songs.

NACon President Santosh Lamsal, Vice President Rishikesh Bhattarai, Treasurer Jitendra Basnet, executive member Jaya Rai, Pralhad Paneru, and many NAConn members attended this event. On the occasion, Bishnu Lama, the proprietor of the Bombay Olive restaurant gave a short introduction of Nepali culture. NAConn is grateful to the town of West Hartford for presenting this opportunity to share the Nepali culture and heritage among the other West Hartford residents.
