Letter of appreciation
Dear all,
I am so happy to report that we were able to collect 53 productive units of blood on a goal of 45!!
This is an amazing result.
As you may know the American Red Cross depends on sponsors like The Nepalese Association of CT and Congregation Beth Israel to assist us in our mission of saving lives. In Connecticut, we need to collect approximately 450 productive units of blood each day to ensure that quality blood products and services are always available when and where they are needed for our hospital patients.
Here are some facts:
· One unit of blood can help save the lives of up to three people
· One of every two will need a transfusion in their lifetime
· In the United States, a blood transfusion is needed every two seconds
· There is no substitute for blood
· Approximately 38 percent of the population is eligible to donate blood, but only 5 percent donate
The Red Cross needs donors to keep giving blood during all times of the year if it is to continue meeting patients’ need for blood: transfusions for trauma victims who have experienced accidents or burns; patients undergoing heart surgery or organ transplant; and patients receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer and other diseases are just some of those who can be helped.
On behalf of the American Red Cross, we thank The Nepalese Association of CT and Congregation Beth Israel for their support and assistance in this very important and life-saving mission.
Best regards,
