Mesage from Chief Advisor

Dear NAConn Members,

With the announcement of election for new executive committee, I have noticed some confusion over how NAConn’s executive committee should function in the interim so that we do not disobey the election code of conduct. After the consultation with the election committee, I would like to advise you all regarding the remaining NAConn activities for the month of May and June.

All of the following activities were approved by the general assembly in September 2012. Therefore, we should all work together to make these programs successful without affecting any election schedule and unduly influencing election outcomes.

1. Blood donation: We are going ahead with the blood drive on May 19th as planned. Mr Rishi Bhattarai is coordinating this effort. More information will be posted in www.ctnepali.org website immediately.

2. Buddha Jayanti: Mr. Romi Yonjan is coordinating this celebration that is scheduled for May 25. This is the day when all election campaigns are suspended by election commission (day before election). Buddha is the lights of Asia and pride of Nepal. Let’s come together to celebrate. More information will be posted on website as we plan further.

3. Nepali Summer School: The classes were planned for Summer 2013, tentatively starting on June 15th and running for 12 weeks. This is very similar to how we organized it last year. Mr. Arjun Dahal is coordinating this effort this year. More information will follow after the school committee meets next week.

These activities are our regular NAConn business approved by general assembly. The current executive committee should refrain from making long-term policy decisions, however, regular day-to-day business should go ahead smoothly. I would like to ask all members come forward with their volunteer support to carry out these activities.

Let’s support our NAConn grow.

Thank you,

Gandhi R Bhattarai, PhD
