Participation in “ Hello ! West Hartford”

On Monday, the 29th of May 2013, NAConn participated in Hello ! West Hartford Second Annual “ Year in Revue”, a town-wide initiative to build bridges between community members and to celebrate the diverse make-up of the community

In this event, the Nepalese community performed a contemporary Nepali modern dance and an instrumental piece. The dance, Shanti Lukau Kaha, was performed by Gilder Lama, Filder lama, Silder Lama, Zenith Rai, Jeny Yonjan and Mamata Malla. The traditional Nepali folk tune was presented by Jaya Kumar Rai (basuri), Romi Yonjan (madal) and Joni Yonjan ( madal).
More than 50 Nepalese community members including the NAConn President, Santosh Lamsal, Vice President, Rishikesh Bhattarai, Treasurer, Jitendra Basnet, Assistant Treasurer, Krishna Awasthi, Secretary, Tejesh Bikram Malla, Members , Jaya Kumar Rai, Romi Yonjan, NAConn chief advisor, Dr Gandhi Bhattarai, and advisors Krishna Adhikari, Nabin Khadka and Ganesh Aryal were present on the occasion.
“We have always participated in such celebrations. Our culture and traditions define our identity and at the same time ,we want to be a part of an atmosphere of greater inclusiveness in town,” said Santosh Lamsal. He also thanked all the participants for their solidarity in cultural awareness.
